Artist Heidi-May! 🎨

🌍 Born on the burnt sienna soils of Africa, Heidi-May immigrated to Canada in the nineties with her husband and three children. Her umber palette was traded for evergreens, blues, and sometimes winter white. Her travels across the globe allowed her to photograph endlessly and opened her eyes to and ability to test new mediums to express her art forms. She captures time, light and color, emotion, and texture from canvas to clay. On quiet days she can be found at her home studio in Ontario, her travels continuing to bring her a delightful perspective of what she sees.

THIS SCARF IS MADE FROM PURE SILK: 100% 12 momme mulberry silk produced by the Bombyx Mori Silkworm in China; silk is a naturally breathable fabric that will help retain moisture without trapping heat.

Silk has a natural resistance to dust mites, fungus, mold, and many other allergens.

What is Mulberry Silk, and how is it made?: Mulberry Silk is a natural fiber produced by the Bombyx Mori silkworm, whose diet consists of leaves from the mulberry tree. Silk is a natural fiber mainly composed of a protein called sericin.

What is the Environmental Impact Of Mulberry Silk?  Silk will eventually biodegrade, leaving less impact on our planet than synthetic alternatives. Mulberry trees that sustain the most silkworms also need few pesticides or fertilizers and can be grown organically. Mulberry trees also require much less water than cotton.

History of the "Silk Scarf"

The first widely recorded instance of a scarf dates back to 350 BC when Egyptian Queen Nefertiti wore a finely woven style with a headdress.

DID YOU KNOW In 1937, the French luxury house Hérmes introduced the first true luxury silk scarf? Made with imported Chinese silk from the Bombyx Mori Silkworm, the strongest natural fabric.

Silk scarves were often worn by Audrey Hepburn, who famously said,
“When I wear a silk scarf, I never feel so definitely like a woman, a beautiful woman,”
